Dr. Carlos S. Alvarado and Dr. Nancy L. Zingrone met in 1983 and threw their lot in together a few months later. Prior to meeting each other, they were both interested in the scientific study of psychic phenomena, influenced by the experiences of friends and relatives, by family stories, and by their undergraduate psychology professors. From 1986 through 2020, they’ve spent most of their lives working in the same office, doing research and writing, and more recently teaching online.
In 2005, along came Natasha Chisdes, who had an interest in the paranormal, a history of substantive volunteerism with various not-for-profits and mad organizational skills. She joined us first as a volunteer for the Parapsychology Foundation’s 2005 Charlottesville conference on mediumship and has been an integral part of the research, publishing, and teaching activities of The AZIRE.
On July 16th, 2021, Alvarado passed away at home of brain cancer. His biography below has been rewritten to reflect that. Now, 16 weeks after his passing, we’re struggling to deal with his loss. As we go forward, his legacy and the future of the AZIRE will be on our minds. Our thanks to those of you who have sent us condolences and who seek to carry on his work in our field.
